Taste Buds

Trying to figure out what to make with these ingredients...

OK, I've decided to go for a homemade barbecue chicken and roasted veggies.
Ingredients (Barbecue Sauce)
1 1/2 tbsp white vinegar
2 tbsp A1 steak sauce
2 tbsp tomato sauce
1/2 tbsp mustard
1 fresh pressed habanero or crushed dried habanero
2 tbsp EVOO
1 tbsp Harley's BBQ seasoning (optional)
1 tbsp Mayonnaise
3 tbsp Honey
1 tbsp paprika
1 tsp horseradish
1 clove minced garlic

Mix all ingredients.

add the drumsticks.

Marinade for an hour in fridge.

Grill on medium high for 35 minutes. Serve with your favorite side. My choice was roasted sweet potatoes, and grilled vegetables.

Roasted Sweet Potatoes
Season potatoes with:
1tbsp EVOO
and a dash of the following:
paprika
chili powder
minced garlic
onion powder
rosemary
cumin
oregano

Roast in oven for 1 hour at 350°.

Grilled vegetables
1 tsp EVOO
salt and pepper to taste

Throw on grill for 25 mins at med high heat.

Using Recycled Canvases

Using Recycled Surfaces is the cheapest way to create various pieces of art. Look what I found and made...

recycled scrap masonite found in garage.

Old wine bottles, with decoupaged clippings from magazines.

Before I painted this, I found the frame with a scratched up print of a sailboat in a dumpster in Denver. I gave it a completely new look with some oil paint; leaving the edges rough for added charm.

The large blue painting was also done in oil paint. I found the frame in the same dumpster (as the previous frame) a few weeks later.

Mixed Media

I made this for Luke as a  gift of apology when we were in our first year of dating. He used to play The White Stripes song Apple Blossom for me. If you've ever listened to the words it's the perfect song for solace...

Apple Blossom
The White Stripes
hey little apple blossom
what seems to be the problem
all the ones you tell your troubles to
they don't really care for you

come and tell me what you're thinking
cause just when the boat is sinking
a little light is blinking
and i will come and rescue you

lots of girls walk around in tears
but that's not for you
you've been looking all around for years
for someone to tell your troubles to

come and sit with me and talk awhile
let me see your pretty little smile
put your troubles in a little pile
and i will sort them out for you
i'll fall in love with you
i think i'll marry you

Thank you cards

The very first post on my blog features our wedding thank you cards. Luke and I were married in October. Now we are tackling our thank you cards. We wanted to include a picture, and thought a post card would be an eco alternative (and a little less expensive to send) with a lot less paper use. We repainted our living room a lovely shade of yellow. Because a lot of the money we got from our guests will be going towards our home we thought it would be appropriate to have a house DIY couples photo.

We got our postcards done at postcards.com. 200 one sided postcards for $20.

When we got them in the mail, the back side looked bare. So we found a postcard stamp at Hobby Lobby, and wrote our return address under the stamp.
